A Complete Guide to This Weekend’s Sneaker Releases

A few days after headlining at Rolling Loud Miami, Travis Scott is giving his fans another gift: an Air Jordan 1 collab with Hiroshi Fujiwara’s Fragment. There are plenty of other pairs releasing too though if you have already accepted the L you will be likely be handed trying to score a pair for yourself. Other highlights this week incude a new colorway of the Air Tuned Max, Dunk Highs from Ambush and Undercover, an SB Dunk Low collab with Parra, an entire collection of Reeboks inspired by Jurassic Park, and more.

What You Need to Know: Nike’s Air Tuned Max arrives in another colorway this week. The “Smoke Grey” pair features a black mesh upper with metallic silver overlays that give it a rather futuristic look. This year marks the first year that the Air Tuned Max has gotten the retro treatment since debuting back in 1999.

Nike Dunk High ‘Black and White’

What You Need to Know: Another pair of Dunks is releasing this week. This black and white women’s release will have plenty of people after it for its versatility. The sole pop of color comes via a red Nike logo on the tongue tag.

What You Need to Know: As part of its apparel collaboration with Nike for the Tokyo Olympics, Undercover has also designed a Dunk High. The pair sports a pebbled red nubuck upper with black overlays, speckled midsole, Undercover Basketball Association logo on the lateral heel, Undercover branding on the medial heel, and a dual-branded tongue tag. The overall shape of this pair is made to more closely resemble OG Dunks from 1985.

What You Need to Know: Travis Scott’s latest Air Jordan collab drops this Thursday, a new colorway of his redesigned Air Jordan 1 in collaboration with Hiroshi Fujiwara’s Fragment. The pair maintains all of the special details of the original Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 like reverse lateral Swooshes and a stash pocket in the collar. Rather than another earth-toned color palette like we have come to expect from La Flame’s previous releases, this new collab features a a mix of white, blue, and black. These colors outfitted the Fragment x Air Jordan 1 release from 2014.

What You Need to Know: Drew League, the popular summer basketball league in Los Angeles, is getting another Air Force 1. This time, the classic low top is dressed in a white leather upper with an orange and yellow graphic inspired by South Central LA covering the Swoosh and heel tab. Drew League logos appear on the tongue tags and stiched on the lateral heel.

What You Need to Know: A fourth colorway of Ambush’s redesigned Dunk High is releasing this Friday. The loud pair features a fully Flash Lime upper with black Swooshes acting as the only bit of contrast. Details like elongated Swooshes and a branded plastic heel counter are inspired by Japan’s automotive culture. 

Lego x Adidas Superstar

What You Need to Know: Adidas continues its collaborative partnership with Lego with a new pair of Superstars. The playful take on the OG black and white colorway features a Lego brick pattern on the Three Stripes, shell toe, and heel tab. Along with the wearable version, Adidas will also be releasing a limited edition Lego set for fans to build their own display piece out of the nostalgic toy bricks. The latest chapter of the Lego x Adidas partnership features various colorways of the Ultra Boost as well with colorful details to match the various colors of the Lego bricks.

What You Need to Know: Two new colorways of Jaden Smith’s original silhouette with New Balance arrive this week. The Vision Racer will be offered in dual “Trippy Summer” colorways that share their name with the upcoming single that Smith will be releasing. Each sports a mesh and cream upper with multicolored detailing covering the mid panel and midsole, respectively. Additional features include psychedelic text on the tongue tab and heel panel and “Vision Racer” written in rainbow lettering on each outsole.

Jurassic Park x Reebok

What You Need to Know: Reebok’s latest pop culture collab is centered around Jurassic Park. Pairs of the Pump Omni Zone II, Instapump Fury OG, Club C, Club C Legacy, Classic Leather, Zig Kinetica, and Stomper have all been outfitted in special colorways nodding to various aspects of the beloved ‘90s blockbuster. For instance, the Instapump Fury is covered in the same paint job found on the tour vehicles in the film and a Club C is made to resemble the wardrobe of paleontologist Dr. Alan Grant.

What You Need to Know: In celebration of the Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Reebok is taking it back to 2004. The latest colorway of the Question Mid is inspired by Allen Iverson’s time as a member of Team USA. The patriotic colorway matches the team’s jerseys and features Iverson’s Olympic jersey number “4” on each heel. Team USA captured the bronze medal in Athens that summer.

What You Need to Know: To celebrate the debut of skateboarding at the Summer Olympics this year in Tokyo, Parra has collaborated with Nike SB on a special colorway of the SB Dunk Low. The pair features a white leather upper with overlays showcasing Parra’s colorful artwork that closely resemble the Federation kits he also designed for the skaters to wear while competing. The canvas overlays are designed to tear away over time to reveal a new layer. Final touches include a gum outsole the artist’s signature on the heel tab, and a standalone black Swoosh.

The new colorway features various shades of grey across its upper and the double-layered look that has become a signature of Sacai’s work with Nike.
