Nike Explains How G-dragon’s PEACEMINUSONE X Nike Kwondo 1 Came to Fruition

Ahead of its release in early December, Nike (NYSE:NKE +2.06%) details how G-Dragon’s PEACEMINUSONE x Nike Kwondo 1 design transpired. As part of the sportswear giant’s Behind the Design series, Catalyst Senior Footwear Designer Jupiter Desphy — who also played a part in the blueprint — gave a rundown of the inspirations,Nike Shoes for Men references and backstories behind the South Korean rapper’s latest collaboration release.

Desphy opened the video stating, “G-Dragon, he doesn’t really represent male or female. Even though it’s stemming from him, it can just be represented and worn by anyone.”

The multi-hyphenate 33-year-old wanted to create an original silhouette by looking at the shapes and styles based on vintage running shoes during the initial stage. The current pair at hand also borrows certain attributes from golf shoes and bowling shoes all the while keeping in mind G-Dragon’s preference of dress shoes during meetings. Bottling all the ideas together, the team chose the SB Janoski as the base due to its narrow nature and toe shape. The Kwondo 1 is dressed in full triple white with premium leather with overlays resembling those found on wingtip shoes. Sneakers2090 A flap is added over the laces similar to those found on soccer shoes. Under the outsole, you can find a number of debossed PEACEMINUSONE daisy logos to leave an imprint when walking on sand.

“He was always passionate and had a clear vision of what he wanted,” noted Desphy on G-Dragon’s method of design, “I think he approaches it like his musical process.”
